  • Information Avian influenza (AI) is a highly contagious viral disease that affects both domestic and wild birds. AI viruses have also been isolated, although less frequently, from mammalian species, including humans. This complex disease is caused by viruses divided into multiple subtypes (i.e. H5N1, H5N3, H5N8 etc.) whose genetic characteristics rapidly evolve. Avian Influenza, known more commonly as the Avian flu, can exist in two different forms - one that has a low capacity for causing mortality (low pathogenic avian influenza or LPAI) and one that results in high mortality rates (highly pathogenic avian influenza or HPAI).

  • Information La influenza aviar (IA) es una enfermedad viral altamente contagiosa que afecta tanto a aves domésticas como silvestres. Aunque con menos frecuencia, también se han identificado virus de influenza aviar en mamíferos, incluso en seres humanos. Esta enfermedad compleja se caracteriza por virus divididos en diversos subtipos, como H5N1, H5N3, H5N8, entre otros, cuyas características genéticas evolucionan rápidamente. La influenza aviar –conocida normalmente como gripe aviar–, puede existir en dos formas diferentes: una que tiene una capacidad baja para causar mortalidad (influenza aviar levemente patógena o IALP) y otra que ocasiona altas tasas de mortalidad (influenza aviar altamente patógena o IAAP).

  • Information L’influenza aviaire est une maladie virale hautement contagieuse qui affecte à la fois les oiseaux domestiques et sauvages. Des virus de l’IA ont également été isolés, bien que moins fréquemment, chez des mammifères, dont les humains. Cette maladie complexe est causée par des virus divisés en de multiples sous-types (i.e. H5N1, H5N3, H5N8 …) dont les caractéristiques génétiques évoluent rapidement. L’influenza aviaire, plus connue sous le nom de grippe aviaire, peut exister sous deux formes différentes – l'une peut se traduire par une faible mortalité, voire aucune (influenza aviaire faiblement pathogène ou IAFP) tandis que l’autre provoque une mortalité élevée (influenza aviaire hautement pathogène ou IAHP).
