Cultivo migratorio  

Definition

  • Information A way of farming that involves the clearing of natural or largely natural vegetation, usually using fire, to plant crops for one or two years and then allowing natural vegetation to regenerate on the plot for a long period of time referred to as fallowing, before clearing and cropping it again. Shifting cultivation is also known as “slash and burn” or “swidden cultivation” and by a variety of local names specific to each place in which it is practiced.
