Robotic vehicles that sit on the sea surface recording oceanographic data across a range of variables. Different types of ASVs use various methods of propulsion, principally wave-powered or propeller driven. ASV systems achieve awareness of the situation, without any human monitoring, by utilising high-tech sensors. Based on the algorithms for condition analysis and collision prevention, decisions are taken automatically. (en)
