Definition

  • Information Body weight that is above normal for height as a result of an excessive accumulation of fat. It is usually a manifestation of expending less energy than is consumed. In human adults, obesity is defined as a BMI of 30 kg/m2 or more. In children under five years of age, obesity is defined as as weight-for-height greater than 3 standard deviations above the WHO Child Growth Standards median.

Suele ser la manifestación de que se quema menos energía de la que se consume.
